Job Summary 

Keyrus is looking for a Senior Machine Learning / Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy end-to-end Machine Learning and AI solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in data science and machine learning with a passion for transforming data into actionable insights.

We value professionals who are detail-oriented, proactive, and independent contributors, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, capable of working closely with clients and internal teams to deliver impactful, data-driven solutions in a regulated environment.

This position is Hybrid in Lisbon or Porto.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end Machine Learning and AI solutions, covering data collection, preparation, model training, evaluation, and optimisation

• Identify business use cases, lead workshops, and translate business needs into scalable, production-ready data solutions

• Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the full application lifecycle

• Develop, enhance, and support in-house applications in collaboration with data scientists and software engineers

• Implement and support the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of ML models following industry best practices

• Deliver data analyses and pipelines (ad-hoc and end-to-end) using Python, SQL, and ETL tools

• Ensure model interpretability and clearly communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences

• Track and report project progress using tools such as Jira and Confluence

• Promote a data-driven culture and stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and methodologies in Data, Analytics, and AI

Requirements for the role 

• 6+ years of professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI-related roles

• Strong background in statistical and quantitative analysis, including machine learning models, probability theory, Bayesian statistics, and time series analysis

• Experience with ML frameworks and libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow)

• Knowledge of NLP techniques

• Strong programming skills in Python (R, Java, or Go is a plus)

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. Git, Jenkins)

• Experience with project management tools and methodologies

• Knowledge of the banking industry's best practices and corporate governance is a strong advantage

• Strong analytical thinking, adaptability, and excellent communication skills

• Fluent in English

• Must be a Portuguese or European citizen, or hold a valid work permit for Portugal
