Job Summary
Keyrus' client is building a next-generation, scalable data platform across AWS (and Azure) to power core business intelligence and analytics needs. As part of this initiative, we are seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to drive the architectural and technical implementation of high-volume data solutions. You will lead the design, development, and operationalisation of data workflows, aligning with strategic cloud infrastructure and business requirements.
This position is Hybrid in Porto.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable and secure data solutions using AWS services like Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, and CloudFormation.
- Lead end-to-end data architecture and design processes considering performance, scalability, cost, and security.
- Develop and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and integrations into Redshift, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Guide data modelling, orchestration (Airflow, Step Functions), and workflow automation efforts.
- Manage cloud infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, routing, and IAM policies.
- Provide hands-on coding in Python and SQL, including query tuning and performance optimisation.
- Utilise Iceberg tables and Athena for large-scale data analysis in Amazon S3.
- Set up observability tools (CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray) for monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Lead sprint planning, task allocation, and code reviews while mentoring team members.
- Write detailed solution architecture documents and provide technical recommendations.
- Collaborate with business teams to challenge requirements and translate them into technical plans.
Requirements for the role
- 7+ years in data engineering, with 2–3 years as a technical/solution architect or Tech Lead.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS services: Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Athena.
- Solid background in Python programming and SQL query development and tuning.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure & networking: VPC, security groups, routing.
- Proven experience with ETL processes and data pipeline orchestration (Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions).
- Proficiency with RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift) and data modelling.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and formats like Iceberg tables (preferred).
- Good understanding of Kafka and real-time data pipelines is a plus.
- Familiarity with Azure Databricks is a nice-to-have.
- Leadership experience.
- Fluent in English
- Must be a Portuguese or European citizen or have a work permit for Portugal
